2,500 Landshut First-Graders Enjoy Free Organic Lunch
Over 2,500 first-graders in the Landshut city and district enjoyed a free, organic lunch today. The Eco-Model Region Landshut and BUND Nature Conservation Local Group Landshut collaborated to provide these healthy meals, with support from the Bavarian Agriculture Foundation and numerous donors.
The children delighted in their organic lunch boxes, filled with local delicacies like Landshut bread, carrots, and fresh cheese. Alongside their meal, they received age-appropriate information about balanced nutrition and the benefits of locally sourced organic products. Deputy Mayor Dr. Thomas Haslinger assisted in distributing the lunch boxes, replacing Mayor Alexander Putz. Each student received their lunch box after listening to a story about a caterpillar who loved to eat.
The initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits in children from an early age. It was made possible by the Bavarian State Ministry's eco-small project grant and various donors. Plans are underway to continue this action annually, encouraging children to eat healthy lunch and motivating parents towards sustainable snacking.
