  • "Poor people just don't try hard enough, everybody has the same 24 hours." - Turns out, having people do chores for you doesn't give you the same 24 hours as someone doing them yourself.
  • "Generational wealth, health, and safety aren't factors." - This unenlightened soul truly believes that everyone has a level playing field in life. How naive.
  • " college roommate thought that students on financial aid should go to the back of the line at the cafeteria." - Privilege knows no taste.
  • "I thought poor people should have to go to the back of the line at the cafeteria. (I was on financial aid.)." - A classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.
  • "You can divide it, multiple it, add it, subtract it, take the derivative of it, and zero is still zero." - Oh, darling, did those advanced math skills somehow give you a clue as to why some people struggle more than others? I didn't think so.
  • "Time is money - if you have one of those (wealth, health, and safety), you can use it to get the other." - Well, put it this way – if you had no time because you were spending it taking care of your bedridden father and three kids, would you still think you "need to step up and get a job"?
  • "There is no such thing as privilege, everybody has the same chances." - Privilege is like that special sauce that enhances your life without you even realizing it.
  • "I had someone question me why I bother working when I'm Indian, they thought that the government pays me to be Indian." - Let's just say that person got a harsh lesson in reality.
  • "I tried to take my dad's jet for a barbecue, but it was only Monday. My parents work." - A chill Sunday barbecue on a private jet – what a first-world problem, huh?
  • "My ex-college friend gloated about her multiple degrees she never actually used professionally." - Some people need to focus less on their accessories and more on their actual accomplishments.
  • "I have generational wealth anxiety." - It's not a disease, my dear, it's just called being lucky.
  • "I'd written a scene which was almost a complete recreation of my stepfather berating my mother, using what he said word for word and his actions in belittling and putting hands on her." - Unfortunately, people like this are all too common.
  • "I have to work. For rent." - It's always a kicker when the rich realise that the working class actually has to... work.
  • "My former friend of mine had a fight with her parents about some boy she met on Snapchat. The parents were 100% in the right. The punishment was she wasn't allowed to wear her designer clothes for a week. A week. She was so mad." - Talk about a reality check – sometimes, it's the little things that matter most.
  • "In a creative writing class many years ago, I'd written a scene which was almost a complete recreation of my stepfather berating my mother, using what he said word for word and his actions in belittling and putting hands on her." - Ah, the reason behind so many privileged people saying and doing such strange things – they don't have a bloody clue how fortunate they are.
  • "Think and listen! I've written a lot about critical moments in my past when I've had revelations about my privilege. They came in unserious ways at first because I wasn't actively looking for them." - Sometimes, it takes an unserious moment to make you see the world in a different light.
  • "My therapist said I have generational wealth anxiety." - Now, that's just rich.

Recognizing your privilege is tough, but it's an important step toward creating a more equal society where everyone can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and happy life. So, what privileges might you be taking for granted? Share your thoughts below!

Privilege is a tricky beast, and sometimes it takes a reality check to make you see things from another perspective. Whether it's about money, race, gender, or other factors, the key is self-awareness and empathy. So, the next time you feel sorry for yourself because life isn't as easy as you'd like it to be, remember – there are always people facing challenges much tougher than your own. And if you happen to be one of those privileged souls, well, you've been warned.

"In the realm of health and wellness, some privileged individuals might be ignorant of the challenging daily routines faced by individuals with limited resources, disregarding the impact of factors like nutrition on overall well-being."

"In the domain of mental health, it's crucial to acknowledge and question whether our understanding of science is influenced by unearned advantages, as these biases could lead to an incomplete and ineffective approach to addressing mental health issues."
