Migrant Qais Al-Aswad Found Guilty of Sexual Assaults in Horley, Surrey

In a case that has shaken the community of Horley, Surrey, a 26-year-old migrant named Qais Al-Aswad was found guilty of sexually assaulting three women over a three-week period.

The series of assaults occurred along the same bike path and near a Waitrose car park, with the first incident taking place on May 23 around 9pm. The second assault occurred on June 4, also around 9pm, and the third assault happened on June 12 at around 10.45am.

The first victim, a woman in her 30s, was shocked and felt violated by the assault. She bravely gave evidence at the trial, along with two other victims, whose identities are protected. The second victim, a woman in her 50s, said she was shocked and shouted out after the assault. The third woman was touched on her vagina during the assault.

CCTV footage played a crucial role in the investigation. Al-Aswad was caught on camera wearing the same matching clothing as shown in the CCTV capturing all three attacks. The footage showed him riding a distinctive purple pedal bike and wearing a jacket, trainers, and an Air Jordan rucksack.

Al-Aswad, who works for an Albanian man at a car wash near London Bridge, initially claimed the man in the CCTV was not him. He suggested that his friends had access to his clothes and bike. However, analysis of his mobile phone placed him in the area at the time of the offenses.

On June 19, Al-Aswad was arrested and the same clothing was recovered during a search of his room at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel in Horley.

The trial's outcome and sentencing information were not provided in the report.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that a migrant named Afrid Amin, originally from Pakistan, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for committing sexual assaults on three different days between May 23 and June 12, 2022, in Horley, Surrey.

This incident serves as a reminder for the importance of personal safety and the need for swift action when such crimes occur. The police and authorities continue to urge anyone with information about such incidents to come forward and report them.
