Setting Sail on "Ocean Change" 2025: Arved Fuchs' Journey for Climate and Marine Protection

Arved Fuchs embarks on the 'Ocean Change' journey in the year 2025 - Arved Fuchs is en route to speak at the 2025 Ocean Change forum

Hello there! Polar explorer and author, Arved Fuchs, has embarked on another leg of his inspiring expedition series, "Ocean Change". Currently underway, he left from Flensburg on a sunny Sunday aboard the historic sailing ship, "Dagmar Aaen". Before setting sail, Fuchs shared his excitement with the German Press Agency, explaining that they've been prepping for this project for ten years now. The primary focus is on the effects of climate change and the preservation of our precious seas. Fuchs is a firm believer in interdisciplinary work, thus collaborating with various institutions to drive meaningful change.

This thrilling journey will lead them through the eastern Baltic Sea, the North Sea, and the eastern Atlantic. Their route includes stops in Stralsund, Greifswald, and Swinemünde (Poland), moving on to Klaipeda (Lithuania) and Riga (Latvia). The crew plans to pass by Gotland (Sweden), sail through the Kattegat and Skagerrak into the North Sea, with a stop on Föhr, before heading towards Brittany and Cornwall in the eastern Atlantic. Weather permitting, they hope to return to their home port of Flensburg later in August.

With smart measurement technology on board, data can be gathered in regions that lack extensive research vessels, like areas they'll be traversing. According to Fuchs, there aren't as many research ships available, making their expedition an excellent addition to the existing research efforts. Thanks to this advanced technology, they can collect and share vital data during the voyage.
