Aschaffenburg Marks 'No to Violence' Period with Red Bench Installation

The installation of a red bench in Aschaffenburg County marks the beginning of the 'No to Violence' action period, honouring the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. Numerous events are planned to raise awareness and provide support.

The red bench serves as a symbol against domestic and sexual violence. Caroline Ruck, the Equal Opportunities Officer, thanked all involved in its installation, stressing the importance of open discussions about domestic violence and informing both affected individuals and their social environment about available counselling and support services.

The bench was donated by Mayor Ralf Herbst of Großostheim. Ruck also revealed that postcards with action recommendations for the social environment will be widely distributed from mid-October. This initiative was led by the local Women's Union and branch, who also funded the plaque. This addition brings the total to three red benches in Großostheim and eight in the district authority.

Giovanna Camertoni from mahnt highlighted that women experience violence due to their gender and that more needs to be done for their protection and that of their children. Another red bench was installed on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the intersection of Sandweg and Mosbacher Straße in Wenigumstadt. The bench's plaque directs to the county's information offer, providing contact options for various support services.

The red bench installation in Aschaffenburg County is a significant step in raising awareness about domestic and sexual violence against women. With numerous events planned and support services readily available, the community is encouraged to engage in open discussions and provide assistance to those in need.
