Billy Joel Announces Motorcycle Auction Amid Cancelled Tour

US singer-songwriter Billy Joel has made headlines for two significant events: the cancellation of his entire US tour and an upcoming motorcycle auction.

The 73-year-old musician, known for hits like "We Didn't Start the Fire", "Piano Man", and "Uptown Girl", was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) in May 2025[1][2]. This condition, which causes excess cerebrospinal fluid to build up, has been exacerbated by recent performances, leading to hearing, vision, and balance problems[1][2]. As a result, Joel had to cancel several concerts in May and subsequently scrapped the originally scheduled US tour from July of this year to July 2026[1][2].

The cancellations were not limited to specific dates but encompassed the entire tour, affecting performances in both the UK and the US.

In a separate development, Joel is auctioning off more than 75 motorcycles from his collection[3]. The collection, which includes models from the 1940s, is available for viewing on the "20th Century Cycles" website[4]. Joel, a resident of Long Island, New York, has a known affinity for motorcycles, which has been showcased in several of his music videos[5].

It's important to note that there is no reported link between Joel's brain condition and any impact on his motorcycles. The focus of the available information is solely on his health-related impact on his concert schedule.

Interestingly, the store "20th Century Cycles," leased by Joel, will not be renewed after its lease expires at the end of September[6].

Billy Joel, a significant figure in pop music since the 1970s, remains a globally recognised artist. The news about the tour cancellations was made public on his website, while the information about the motorcycle auction can be found on the "20th Century Cycles" website.
