Benjamin Bloom, Education Pioneer, Born 1913

Prominent educational activist and psychologist Benjamin Bloom was born on February 21, 1913, in Lansford, Pennsylvania, USA. He made significant contributions to the field of education, notably founding the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and developing the widely-used Bloom's Taxonomy.

Bloom's academic journey began at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1935. He went on to receive his doctorate in Education from the University of Chicago in 1942. During his time there, he established the MESA (Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistical Analysis) program to nurture students with exceptional cognitive abilities.

Bloom's work focused on the cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor aspects of learning. He divided educational objectives into three domains: affective, psychomotor, and cognitive. In 1956, he published 'Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, Handbook 1: Cognitive Domain', which introduced his groundbreaking educational model. This model subdivides the cognitive domain into six levels: knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.

Benjamin Bloom's influence on education is profound and lasting. His taxonomy continues to guide educators worldwide in setting learning objectives and assessing student progress. Despite his significant contributions, there's no public information linking Bloom to specific government goals or development projects during his time as a consultant for governments worldwide.
