Civil engineering accident results in severe injuries to two workers on the job site
In the heart of Düsseldorf, an accident occurred on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Schadowstraße. The Düsseldorf Fire Department received a call about a potential fire around 10:30 AM, and swiftly sprang into action.
Upon arrival, the incident commander dispatched approximately 30 personnel to secure the area and provide first aid. The accident involved work on a district heating line, resulting in two individuals suffering severe injuries. A rescue helicopter was deployed for additional support.
The head of the Düsseldorf Fire Department, David von der Lieth, oversaw the operation. The operator promptly shut down the damaged district heating line to ensure no further danger.
During the operation, which lasted approximately 90 minutes, several affected individuals were provided with psychological support. The two severely injured individuals were treated by emergency doctors and paramedics and were transported to hospitals.
