Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais – The fight for respect, autonomy, and security for women continues to be a priority for the Municipal Chamber of Belo Horizonte. This month, the Chamber marks the 19th anniversary of the Maria da Penha Law, a landmark legislation combating domestic violence.

The Ponto de Acolhimento e Orientação à Mulher em Situação de Violência, a partnership between the Municipal Chamber, the Government of Minas Gerais, and the Civil Police, has been operating in Belo Horizonte since 2021. The Reception Point, located at Av. Churchill, 506, Santa Efigênia neighborhood, can be contacted via WhatsApp at (31) 3555-1394 or by email at [email protected].

Professionals trained in empathy act at the Reception Point, providing humanized support, confidentiality, legal orientation, and other services to women in need. The unit aims to attend around 40 women each month, offering a lifeline to those in vulnerable situations.
