The City of Göttingen and the University Medical Center Göttingen have announced a collaborative study aimed at identifying health risk factors for the occurrence of dental damage, and exploring potential links between dental and overall health in school-aged children.

The Public Health Department for the City and District of Göttingen is leading this study, which will take place from December 4, 2024 to June 2025 as part of the school entry health examination. The Polyclinic for Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology, and Caries Research at the University Medical Center Göttingen is also involved in the study, providing valuable insights and resources.

During the examination, in addition to the legally required examination, the children's current dental status will be recorded. After the examination, a feedback report on the child's oral health will be provided. This dental examination by a dentist is voluntary and free of charge.

The study information can be accessed on both the City of Göttingen homepage and the Polyclinic's website. The findings from the study could help improve children's oral health through individually tailored preventive measures.

A joint press release about the study was issued by the City of Göttingen and the University Medical Center Göttingen, serving as a source of additional information about the study. The Polyclinic for Preventive Dentistry, Caries Research, and Periodontology at the University Medical Center Göttingen also provides information about the study.

The dental examination will be offered in the examination rooms at Theaterplatz 4 in Göttingen after a personal consultation. For more detailed information about the study, please visit the City of Göttingen homepage. This dental examination is a unique opportunity for parents to ensure their children's oral health is in optimal condition, and for researchers to gain valuable insights into the connections between dental and overall health.
