Elderly members of the Pasqua First Nation community gather for the inauguration ceremony of their new senior care facility.
The Red Eagle Lodge, a 13-unit senior care home on Pasqua First Nation, has officially opened its doors. Located approximately 65 kilometres northeast of Regina, the centre is a long-awaited addition to the community, as talks about creating a senior care centre began back in 2009.
The Red Eagle Lodge offers a variety of amenities for its residents, including a fitness centre, saunas, theatre room, hair salon, culture room, and various areas for activities. In total, the centre boasts over 10 small homes for independent living residents, in addition to the 13 suites.
Fabian Ironeagle, the chief of Pasqua First Nation, has reported positive reviews from the residents of the centre. One such resident, Irvin Pasqua, a member of Pasqua First Nation, has been living at the centre since July and is happy to be living at the Red Eagle Lodge after spending years in other senior homes.
Special consideration is given to members of Pasqua First Nation when applying to live at Red Eagle Lodge. However, non-members will be considered for residency at Red Eagle Lodge if there is room at any given time.
Danielle Poitras, a financial assistant at Red Eagle Lodge, stated that they are all facing similar issues regarding the older population. The centre aims to serve generations of seniors to come, offering culturally sensitive programming and services.
Residents at the Red Eagle Lodge have 24/7 access to clinical staff and on-site security, ensuring their safety and well-being. As of the current time, six residents are living in the Red Eagle Lodge.
The search results do not provide information on the leader of the Red Eagle Lodge project. However, the project went through various stages, including consultations with Pasqua members about their needs and wants from a senior care centre.
The Red Eagle Lodge is designed to offer a home-like environment for its residents, with a focus on preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Pasqua First Nation. It is a significant step forward in providing quality care for the elderly members of the community, and a testament to the commitment of Pasqua First Nation to the well-being of its people.
