Expansion of Donum Vitae's consulting services and fundraising efforts announced
The counseling center donum vitae, located in Bergisch Gladbach, has announced a fundraising campaign that will run from September 12 to December 12, 2025. The campaign, titled "More Woman-Power for Women and Families in Need", aims to expand counseling capacities and specifically support women in difficult situations.
Established in 1996 by Roswitha and Erich Bethe, the Bethe Foundation is supporting this campaign by doubling donations, up to a total of 5,000 euros. The Bethe Foundation, known for its commitment to the establishment of children's hospices and facilities that protect children and young people from violence and abuse, has a foundation capital of over 10 million euros.
donum vitae is a counseling center that advises on pregnancy, birth, sexuality, family planning, and starting a family. The center, which is financed from public funds of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, as well as through donations, has seen a significant increase in the need for its services. Since 2022, the number of consultations has exceeded 1,000 per year, with about 35% of first consultations relating to a pregnancy conflict.
Several events are planned as part of the campaign. Vera Zischke will read from her book "Ava still loves" on September 17, 2025, at Engel am Dom. A film screening is scheduled for November 2025 at Cineplex Bensberg. The spinning marathon will take place on December 6, 2025, at Family Fitness Bergisch Gladbach. A Glühwein event called "GaragenGluhen" with "Pütz and Band" is planned for December 7, 2025, in Frankenforst. donum vitae will also participate in the Refrather Christmas market with a large tombola on November 29, 2025.
All consultations at donum vitae are free of charge. The aim of the campaign is to provide short-term financial aid or additional psychosocial offers to women in need. The Bethe Foundation has distributed around 30 million euros to various projects, including the Jewish Museum in Cologne and refugee projects.
