The station team is a mix of various specialists and is well-connected in the region. Patients and their loved ones receive supportive care services as needed - including physiotherapy, psychosocial counseling, religious support, and care coordination.
In the event of a transition to outpatient palliative care, GFO Clinics Rhein-Berg joins the extensive regional network, including specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV), the outpatient hospice service, and the Bensberg hospice.
The revamped palliative department boasts nine private rooms, accommodating relatives when necessary. Each room features a private bathroom, and comfortable common areas with a welcoming ambiance encourage interaction and dialogue, complete with volunteers at your service.
"Our mission is to offer top-notch nursing care to our patients - in an environment where they feel safe and secure," says Valentina Thor, department head. The medical leadership has taken over by Bettina Schüller-Mörsch and Helena Grams.
"With the reopening of our palliative care unit at MKH, we are sending a powerful message of dignified, holistic care for the critically ill," says Bettina Schüller-Mörsch. "Our goal is to walk alongside them and their families during this challenging phase of life, equipped with medical knowledge, compassion, and interdisciplinary guidance.
