Hammer Landstraße Testing Facility Shut Down
The Rhein-Kreis Neuss Corona-PCR Test Center, located on Hammer Landstraße, will be closing at the end of May due to a significant decrease in the demand for PCR tests. As the pandemic situation has eased, the need for large-scale testing has reduced, making it no longer economically viable to keep the center open.
However, residents of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss can still access testing options. Here are some alternatives:
- Local medical practices (doctors’ offices) offer PCR testing. Check with your doctor for availability and appointment booking.
- Pharmacies provide rapid antigen tests or can guide you to nearby PCR testing facilities.
- Other regional testing centers or clinics still offering PCR tests may be found on the official Rhein-Kreis Neuss website. Appointments are usually required.
For the most up-to-date information on testing sites and whether testing is free or requires payment, it's recommended to check the latest announcements from the local health department or the Rhein-Kreis Neuss official website.
As for the coronavirus situation in the Kreis Neuss, the latest figures show that 2,064 individuals have tested positive for the virus. Unfortunately, the number of deaths remains unchanged at 551.
It's worth noting that the local health department will continue to conduct mobile PCR tests in facilities such as senior homes and test non-mobile asymptomatic persons at home. The corona hotline of the health department will not be staffed on Ascension Day (May 26).

During the lockdown period, particularly on Pentecost, the infection numbers were higher than those of about a year ago, with 624 cases registered on June 1, 2021. However, with the easing of restrictions and the increase in testing options, the hope is for the numbers to continue to decrease.
Stay informed and stay safe in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
