Highland Hospital appoints Ashlee Smith, D.O. as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services.

Dr. Ashlee Smith, a Central New York native, has been appointed as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services at Highland Hospital, a part of the Alameda Health System. This announcement comes after Dr. Alan Curle, M.D., FASA, steps down from the role he has served in for over 20 years.

Dr. Smith completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she also served as Chief Resident. Following her residency, she returned to the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Geisinger Medical Center and served as the Director of the Division of Gynecology.

In 2013, Dr. Smith completed her fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She then went on to join the University of Rochester Medical Center in 2021, where she serves as the fellowship Program Director for Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Smith's new role at Highland Hospital does not affect Dr. Curle's continued service as an anesthesiologist at the hospital. He will also continue to serve in a faculty position at the Center for Perioperative Medicine.

Dr. Smith's appointment at the University of Rochester Medical Center is a new development in her career, and her new role at Highland Hospital does not affect her ongoing work there.

Dr. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Lawrence University and her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This appointment marks a significant change in the leadership of Highland Hospital's perioperative services, and Dr. Smith brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. For the most current leadership updates, visitors are encouraged to check the official Alameda Health System or Highland Hospital websites or contact their administrative office.

Dr. Smith's extensive background in women's health, gained from her skilled service as the Fellowship Program Director for Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, will undoubtedly contribute to her new role in promoting health-and-wellness, particularly women's health, as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services at Highland Hospital. Furthermore, her strong interest in nutrition and understanding of medical-conditions, especially those related to women, will be beneficial in ensuring optimal care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
