In reference to Cincinnati, the coach of Sinner has announced that Jannik will be returning to the field the day after tomorrow, having been affected by a virus.

Jannik Sinner, the 24-year-old tennis star from South Tyrol, is set to return to the court on Thursday, according to his coach Darren Cahill, following his retirement from the final of the ATP Cincinnati due to illness.

Sinner had entered the court with a fever around 38 degrees, and lost the first 5 games before retiring. The virus proved to be the cause of his illness, but the assistant who fell ill remains unnamed in the available sources.

The US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the season, will take place from Sunday, August 24 to Sunday, September 7. Sinner won the US Open title last year, and was due to defend his title against Carlos Alcaraz in this year's final.

In the lead up to the tournament, Sinner had mentioned the conditions as difficult in the last few days. Some theories focused on a cake offered to Sinner for his birthday on August 16, while others blamed the air conditioning as a potential cause of his illness due to its alternation with the heat.

Sinner's coach, Darren Cahill, has remained supportive throughout, and is optimistic about his player's return to the court. The tennis world will be eagerly awaiting Sinner's comeback, as he looks to regain his form and defend his US Open title.
