In a significant stride towards a more preventative and patient-focused healthcare system, PocDoc, a leading digital health company, has partnered with Cumbria Health as part of a nationally commissioned programme for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

The partnership, commissioned by Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council, has already recorded the highest-ever uptake rate for an NHS-backed screening initiative in just six months. Over 9,000 Healthy Heart Checks have been delivered in the Northwest of England, making screening more accessible, particularly in rural communities.

Steve Roest, CEO and Co-Founder of PocDoc, expressed delight with the initial results of the partnership. He highlighted the service's ability to identify individuals at risk of CVD and praised the partnership's focus on preventative care.

The Healthy Heart Check offers a comprehensive cholesterol profile, body mass index score, NHS heart age, and a ten-year risk assessment for heart attacks or stroke. The test has been found to be more convenient than visiting a GP, with 93% of Cumbria health employees expressing this preference.

Richard McGregor, Head of Digital and Performance at Cumbria Health, also expressed satisfaction with the partnership's results. He noted that 78% of those tested via the Cumbria Health partnership had never done a cholesterol test in the last 5 years.

The initiative has also shown impressive user sentiment, recording an NPS score of 78 across all employees, putting the service ahead of brands like Apple, Samsung, and Netflix in terms of positive user sentiment.

The partnership has been successful in addressing a significant issue, with over two-thirds (69%) of those tested via the Cumbria Health partnership being either overweight or obese.

PocDoc's CEO, Steve Roest, expressed gratitude for NHS partners across the UK and anticipates matching or exceeding the positive results in other regions. The partnership aligns with Cumbria Health's commitment to preventative care and digital innovation.

While the institution that received the mandate in October 2024 to conduct a national program for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases together with PocDoc has not been explicitly named in the provided search results, the partnership between PocDoc and Cumbria Health is expected to reduce long-term pressures on NHS services.
