Patrice Aminati's Cancer Journey: "I'm in Palliative Care"

Cancer prognosis for Patrice Aminati now deemed untreatable - Incurable cancer diagnosed for Patrice Aminati

Grabbing headlines once more, Patrice Aminati opens up about her battles with cancer in a candid interview with "Die Zeit." She reveals her current status as being "in palliative care," with stage 4 cancer no longer curable.

Married to popular TV presenter Daniel Aminati, the 30-year-old has been fighting malignant melanoma—or black skin cancer—for about two years. She shares her daily routine with the illness: "Every morning and night, I take 21 pills. I take as many as I need, as few as I can."

The medications she relies on include targeted therapy drugs against her cancer, cortisone due to severe side effects from previous treatments, painkillers, and sleep aids. Despite the numerous challenges, she remains optimistic: "Every day without pain is a gift."

Confronting her own mortality, Patrice expresses concern not for her own life but for those she will leave behind, particularly her young daughter born just before her diagnosis and celebrating her third birthday in August. This fear serves as motivation: "I've tried to defy the diagnosis and fight my way back into life."

Her life-altering illness has caused her to reassess her perspective on life. "The feeling of freedom and carefree has been taken away," she shares. "Now I focus on the essentials, the fundamentals of what truly matters in my life." She finds gratitude for her body, which has endured tremendous hardships and carried her so far. "When my body reaches its limits, I am most grateful for it."

A Life of Hopes and Dreams

In the face of a grim diagnosis, Patrice refuses to lose hope. She holds on to the possibility of future advancements in cancer treatment: "I hope that a medication will be developed that will replace the countless pills and give me more time." Alongside her husband, she dreams of a second child, although her current medication makes pregnancy impossible. "Even if we don't get a second child, I don't want to give up now, at 30. I want to have at least hoped."

Speaking with "Bunte" magazine earlier in March, the couple—who have been legally wed since 2022—discussed their aspirations. Daniel expressed his desire to renew their vows on their wedding anniversary and Patricia's birthday in 2027.
