Read All About It:

In the heart of Croatia, the bustling city of Dubrovnik played host to the 12th International Conference on Anthropological Genetics and Forensics. This gathering brought together a roster of brilliant minds from prestigious universities and institutions across Europe and the globe. The event was orchestrated by none other than the International Society for Applied Biological Sciences (ISABS), the American Mayo Clinic, and the Sv Katarina (St. Catherine) Special Hospital.

As announced by ISABS President, Dragan Primorac, the primary objective of this conference was to shed light on the future of medicine itself. Emphasizing the growth of pharmacogenomics, gene cell therapy in treating numerous degenerative diseases and cancer, Primorac emphasized the need to break free from traditional medical norms. The new concept, personalized medicine, revolves around delivering the right treatment to the right patient at the right time, which can be accomplished through analyzing glycomics, genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics.

Boasting three Nobel laureates: Sir Richard Roberts, Thomas Südhof, and Aaron Ciechanover, the conference was a platform to engage and collaborate with approximately 200 students from the USA, Europe, and Croatia. Radovan Fuchs, Minister of Science and Education, highlighted the importance of the event as a stepping stone for young minds, providing them with networking opportunities and valuable experiences.

Meanwhile, Davor Bozinovic, Minister of the Interior, took the chance to discuss the role of the Ivan Vucetic Police Academy and the Centre for Forensic Investigations, Research, and Expertise within the Ministry of the Interior (MUP). The Ivan Vucetic Centre plays a pivotal role in forensics, with its chief being a member of the American Academy of Forensics. MUP's science institutions are undoubtedly at the forefront of the global scene and lead the way in this part of Europe.
