Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has returned home following a hospital visit in Dhaka. The 79-year-old leader, who has been receiving medical treatment in London for the past four months, underwent a series of urgent medical tests and a health check-up at Evercare Hospital on July 24, 2021.

Khaleda Zia left her residence, Firoza, at around 1:18am and returned home in the afternoon the same day. The visit to the hospital was for her regular health examinations, as confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia's personal physician.

The medical board overseeing Khaleda Zia's treatment at Evercare Hospital consists of specialists from the hospital and her personal team of doctors. The decision regarding her potential hospital admission will be made by doctors after necessary tests and examinations.

Khaleda Zia has been experiencing multiple serious health issues, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart, and eye problems. Before departing for London, she last visited Evercare Hospital on September 12, 2020, for a health check-up. During her stay in London, she received advanced medical care under the supervision of liver specialist Prof Patrick Kennedy.

Upon her return home, Khaleda Zia is currently receiving treatment at her home under the supervision of the medical board. No information was given about her possible admission to the hospital at this time.

The BNP Chairperson's travel to London and return home were facilitated by a special air ambulance provided by Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This marks Khaleda Zia's second hospital visit since returning home from London in May.

Khaleda Zia has been suffering from multiple chronic health complications for many years. The nation hopes for her speedy recovery and good health.

In the context of Khaleda Zia's health, it's crucial for her to maintain regular check-ups, including those for women's health and mental health, considering her history of various medical conditions such as liver cirrhosis and diabetes. The medical board, consisting of hospital specialists and her personal team, will determine whether she needs hospitalization based on the results of further tests and examinations.
