Landshut's Organic Lunch Box Action Promotes Healthy Eating Among 2,500 First-Graders

An eco-friendly initiative has brought healthy eating to the forefront in Landshut. Around 2,500 first-graders in the city and district received free organic lunch boxes, thanks to numerous donors and a grant from the Bavarian State Ministry. Deputy Mayor Dr. Thomas Haslinger assisted in distributing these boxes, which aim to promote awareness of healthy eating among the youngest.

The 'Organic Lunch Box Action' was made possible by the generous support of donors and an eco-small project grant from the Bavarian State Ministry. The action, held annually, seeks to awaken children's appetite for healthy food and motivate parents for sustainable snacking.

Federal Minister Alois Rainer, a CSU politician from Lower Bavaria, granted the donation for this eco-friendly initiative. As the Minister of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Homeland since 2025, he has shown commitment to promoting organic and locally produced products. The lunch boxes were filled exclusively with organic products sourced from the Landshut region.

Deputy Mayor Dr. Thomas Haslinger played a hands-on role in the action. He distributed the healthy lunch boxes to the students and read them the story of the little caterpillar Nimmersatt before presenting each student with a box. Alongside the lunch boxes, the students also received child-friendly information about balanced nutrition and the benefits of locally produced organic products.
