Leipzig Icefighters Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness in October

Leipzig Icefighters are set to don pink jerseys for their October home games, supporting the global fight against breast cancer. The team will provide crucial information about screening and early detection at their October 5th match, with proceeds from jersey sales benefiting the UKL Breast Center.

The Icefighters' 'Pink October' initiative aligns with the global campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer. The team's managing director, André Schilbach, expressed solidarity with those affected by the disease. The Icefighters will wear pink jerseys for all five home games in October, kicking off on October 5th against the Rostock Piranhas.

The team's efforts are supported by Dr. Nadja Dornhöfer, scientific director of the Department of Gynecology at Leipzig University Hospital. She will join employees of the UKL Breast Center at the October 5th game to provide information about screening, early detection, and therapy options. Proceeds from jersey sales in the fan shop will go directly to the Leipzig Breast Center of the Uni-Clinic. Early detection is key, with about one in eight women developing breast cancer in their lifetime.

The Icefighters' 'Pink October' initiative is more than just a gesture. It's a commitment to raising awareness and supporting those affected by breast cancer. By wearing pink jerseys and providing vital information, the team is helping to improve early detection and, ultimately, survival rates.
