Matic Temporarily Halts Middle East Operations Over Covid-19 Concerns
Dubai-based cleaning services marketplace Matic has taken the initiative to temporarily suspend its operations across the Middle East. This decision, made in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, was taken despite no explicit order from authorities. The company prioritized safety over business continuity.
Matic's operations were halted on Sunday, March 22, affecting markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Qatar. The suspension was comprehensive, including the company's disinfection service. Despite this, Matic continues to collaborate with hypermarkets and retailers, providing cleaning and sanitization services in line with WHO guidelines.
The company operates in 14 cities across these markets, serving over 7,000 homes daily through a network of over 4,000 service providers. Matic's co-founder and CEO, Mohammad Samad, explained that the company's responsibility lies in ensuring the health and safety of both customers and service providers.
Matic's temporary suspension of operations, effective from March 22, 2020, demonstrates the company's commitment to public health and safety. Despite the impact on business continuity, Matic continues to provide essential services to hypermarkets and retailers, adhering to WHO guidelines. The company's decision to prioritize safety over business operations is a testament to its corporate responsibility.
