Minister Lan Pushes Hospital Projects Forward, Calls for Swift Action

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan recently chaired a meeting to assess progress on two significant hospital projects linked to Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital. The projects, which require a combined total of 633 medical devices, are among the 145 out of 3,000 backlogged projects showing progress. Minister Lan emphasized their political priority and urged active participation from all involved parties.

The meeting discussed challenges faced by the hospitals, including slow progress due to limited contractor credit access and the time needed for medical device installation and configuration. Representatives from Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital updated Minister Lan on staff recruitment and bidding procedures for drugs, consumables, and ancillary services. The Medical Project Management Board, contractors, and the hospitals were directed to propose solutions to accelerate construction, with clear commitments and a detailed implementation roadmap.

To support these projects, international cooperation and investment are crucial. Foreign investment funds like VinaCapital, active for over 20 years and focusing on ESG factors and transparency, are involved. The Vietnamese Health Ministry promotes public-private partnerships to enhance healthcare infrastructure, workforce training, and digital transformation. Multinational corporations such as Sanofi are engaged in applying AI and modern technology to improve medication accessibility.

Minister Lan has stressed the importance of these hospital projects and the need for swift progress. With the challenges identified and solutions proposed, the Minister has asked the Department of Planning and Finance to review each project, producing a detailed report on problems, shortcomings, and their causes. The aim is to remove obstacles and accelerate construction, ensuring these vital healthcare facilities are completed promptly.
