Modern pain management techniques discussed among participants following EVA Ruhr patient gathering

The EVA Ruhr, a network of seven hospitals in the Ruhr area, is offering a series of patient forums aimed at informing about modern treatment approaches and presenting individual therapy options for chronic pain management. These forums, titled 'EVA Ruhr Patient Forum: Chronic Pain,' will take place at various locations: EVK Gelsenkirchen (24th September 2025), EvK Castrop-Rauxel (26th November), EvK Herne-Eickel (4th February 2026), EvK Witten (15th April 2026), and Augusta-Kranken-Anstalt Bochum (17th June 2026). All events will commence at 5 PM local time. The forums are designed to address the multifaceted nature of chronic pain, which not only affects the body but also the psyche and social life. Factors such as anger in partnerships, job dissatisfaction, bullying, and lack of self-efficacy can impact pain perception. Modern pain treatment is available at all EVA Ruhr hospitals, with specialized therapies offered at individual locations. These therapies include multimodal pain therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological pain management, and individualized medication management. Dr. Jutta Schröder, chief physician at EVK Gelsenkirchen and spokesperson for the specialty group 'Pain Therapy' in EVA Ruhr, emphasizes the importance of personalized treatment, explaining that sometimes, multiple adjustments are necessary in pain treatment to achieve success. In Gelsenkirchen, EVA Ruhr offers a pain outpatient clinic, a day clinic for an intensified three-week pain therapy, and a comprehensive medical, psychological, and physiotherapeutic pain diagnosis before starting treatment. The multimodal treatment approach at EVA Ruhr addresses both physical and psychosocial factors in chronic pain management. Other focuses in the EVA Ruhr network include Special Pain Physiotherapy and Manual Therapy. Further information and registration for the events can be found at www.eva-ruhr.de/schmerz. For those who may be struggling with chronic pain, these forums provide an opportunity to learn about the latest treatment options and connect with others in similar situations.
