Nationwide traffic safety campaign engages Police Paderborn for enhanced road security
In the Paderborn District of Germany, the annual traffic safety campaign "sicher.mobil.leben" is set to take place on Tuesday, June 3rd. This year, the focus of the campaign is on the dangers children face in road traffic.
The Paderborn Police are urging all road users, especially motorists, to be particularly attentive and considerate towards children. This is due to the fact that children have underdeveloped perception and assessment skills, which makes them particularly at risk in road traffic.
The campaign has been held annually since 2018 by police forces of the federal states. This year, the motto of the campaign is "Children in focus".
To enhance child safety on roads, several key initiatives and recommendations have been proposed. These include educational programs for children, infrastructure improvements around schools and playgrounds, community engagement events, and increased surveillance and enforcement in school zones.
For drivers, the recommendations include reducing speed, being aware of pedestrians, using safety features correctly, promoting safe habits among children, and respecting traffic rules.
The Paderborn police will conduct reinforced traffic checks throughout the district, especially at schools, kindergartens, and on the way there, not just on Tuesday but as a general request for all times. For press inquiries, contact the Paderborn Police Headquarters' Press and Public Relations Office at 05251 306-1313 or email [email protected].
It's important to remember that the safety of children in road traffic is a communal task that requires everyone's involvement. Children have difficulty estimating distances and speeds correctly and can be easily distracted, making them more vulnerable on the roads.
So, let's all do our part to create a safer environment for children in Paderborn District by fostering a culture of road safety awareness and responsible driving practices.
