Offender breaches GRC office premises violently
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 44-year-old man rammed his vehicle into the entrance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) headquarters in Westmount, Montreal. The incident, which took place around 8:25 a.m., resulted in the man's arrest, but no injuries were reported among those inside the building.
According to Jean-Pierre Brabant, the media relations agent for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), the SPVM was called to intervene with the man. The man, who may have been dealing with mental health issues, approached the building in his vehicle before crashing into the entrance.
Speeds during the incident were not high but constant, causing only minor damages to the building's entrance, including broken windows. The vehicle involved in the incident was subsequently towed away. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, and his life is not in danger.
While the news reports confirm the arrest and the incident, there is no information available indicating that the driver was charged specifically with impaired driving or drug consumption. However, there is a possibility that the man consumed drugs prior to the incident.
The SPVM is currently investigating the incident, and further details will be released as they become available. For now, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of those involved.
