Emergency medical practice in Ettlingen develops an alternative approach, and it's more than a coincidence that the Health Insurance Physicians Association is now endorsing private clinics (MVZ).

The town of Ettlingen is set to welcome a new municipal medical care center (MVZ) on January 1, 2026, located in Singen. This opening is an important step in addressing the primary care issue that the town has been facing.

The MVZ is poised to clear the final hurdle if it proves profitable, a determination that will be made by the patients. The potential success of the MVZ could contribute to stabilizing and improving future medical care in Ettlingen.

The conditions for the MVZ's success are in place due to the takeover of centrally located rooms and most of the proven team. New situations often require new solutions and a bit of risk, and the MVZ's opening is intended to ease the tense situation regarding primary care.

Unfortunately, the Ettlingen emergency practice is facing a possible closure before the sickness-prone Christmas season. Various rescue attempts to prevent the closure have failed, and the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBW) has confirmed the closure.

KVBW's handling of local decision-makers, led by Mayor Johannes Arnold, has been obstructive. Despite this, efforts to resolve the primary care issue in Ettlingen continue. The persistence and commitment of the city administration and the emergency practice team are due respect.

For sick people with further travel distances, the alternative practice in Karlsruhe may face four tough weeks in December. The closure of the emergency practice is a drawback, but the opening of the MVZ offers a glimmer of hope for improved medical care in Ettlingen.
