Pope Francis: Love is a Gift from God, Not Our Own Effort
Pope Francis recently shared insights on love and charity during a general audience at St. Peter's Square. He stressed that genuine love is a gift from God, not a product of our own efforts.
The Pope warned against the hypocrisy of believing we can love others based solely on our own goodness. He explained that true love and charity are gifts from God, as stated in his book 'Love is a Gift from God', authored by Marco Politi.
Pope Francis acknowledged the challenge of loving perfectly, emphasizing the need for God's grace. He encouraged believers to be close to the poor and humble, as Jesus is with each of us, showing compassion and forgiveness.
He also reflected on St. Paul's letter to the Romans, highlighting the importance of sincere love, endurance, and hospitality. The Pope stressed that inviting God into our hearts enables us to love others sincerely, as God loves them.
Pope Francis reminded us that even in our failures, God's love never fails. He gives us the grace to love more perfectly, encouraging us to seek His love and share it with others.
