Renowned Surgeon Ivan Li Dies at 60 After COVID-19 Battle

Renowned surgeon Ivan Li, aged 60, passed away last July after contracting COVID-19. Hailing from Almaty, Li was widely respected for his medical prowess and dedication to saving lives.

Throughout his illustrious career, Li performed nearly 7,000 operations, leaving an indelible mark on the medical community. His exceptional skills earned him six medals and eight orders. In the 2000s, Li served as the head of City Clinical Hospital No. 7, further cementing his legacy.

Li's passing sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes. On what would have been his 61st birthday, a memorial exhibition titled 'Lifetime Achievement' was held at the Central State Museum. His mother, Rosa Li, donated his personal mementos to the museum to preserve his memory and inspire future generations of medical professionals.

Ivan Li's contributions to medicine will forever be remembered. His dedication to saving lives, both through his surgical work and his leadership at City Clinical Hospital No. 7, has left a lasting impact on Almaty and the wider medical community.
