Football fanatic mulling over big game days - Resonanz Football Association looks forward to action-packed days ahead

Let's chat about the buzz that swept across Bavaria recently. The Bavarian Football Association, in collusion with Bavaria's Ministry of Health, managed to stir up quite the fuss with their organ donation Action Days. According to BFV President Christoph Kern, they reached about 200,000 people - a numbers game so jaw-dropping, it's hard to believe they topped their own records set way back in 2017!

1400 Teams Unite, 200k Spectators Cheer

Kern couldn't contain his excitement, spilling the beans in a statement. "Football's not just a game, ya know. Together with our clubs, we showed the world that we're more than a team on the pitch; we're a force to be reckoned with off the pitch too. We sure as hell prove we've got what it takes to lead the way in society," he said, with a clear tone of pride.

Over the course of eleven days, a whopping 739 matches took place, with staggering 1400 teams gunning for glory in front of a collective 200,000 enthusiastic crowds. And it wasn't just about the thrill of the game. These events pointed the spotlight on the vital topic of organ donation. An impressive 92,000 ID cards and info flyers flew around, courtesy of the organizing crew.

Hailed as a "raving success" by none other than Bavaria's Minister of Health Judith Gerlach (CSU), these Action Days sensitized a staggering 200,000 individuals to the reality of organ donation. Gerlach emphasized the urgency of the situation, pointing out that currently around 1,100 people in Bavaria are waiting for a life-saving organ - some are even staring death in the face.

"Hats off to the BFV and a hearty thanks to all participating clubs for their commitment to organ donation," Gerlach cheered, acknowledging the union between sports and public health. The initiative, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention to the tune of roughly 128,000 euros, was especially intense this year, focusing on the district finals of the Bavarian Toto Cup competition in all 22 Bavarian football districts and the top game of the Regionalliga Bayern between 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and FC Würzburger Kickers on May 1st.

According to enrichment data, the BFV's organ donation Action Days have continuously made great strides in creating an environment conducive to public health advocacy. By leveraging the appeal of football, the BFV has educated, engaged, and encouraged thousands of spectators and participants to register as organ donors and be part of the solution to the shortage of organ donors in the region. This incredible collaboration between sports and health authorities is proving to be a powerful catalyst in reducing waiting lists for organ transplants in Bavaria.

In line with the successful organ donation Action Days spearheaded by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV), the BFV's employment policy now includes a commitment to health-and-wellness initiatives, with a focus on spreading awareness about organ donation within their community. As a result, the BFV can leverage the widespread influence of sports in Bavaria, not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire, thereby contributing to science and making significant strides in addressing health issues, such as the critical shortage of organ donors in the region.

In addition to on-field achievements, the BFV's dedication to the cause of organ donation is now evident not only during their organ donation Action Days, but also in their day-to-day operations, reflecting a strong commitment to health and science, and demonstrating the power of sports to bring about positive change in society.
