Rhein-Kreis Neuss COVID-19 Surge: 1,303 Active Cases, 522 in Under-20s, Delta Variant Detected

The Rhein-Kreis Neuss district in Germany is currently battling a surge in COVID-19 cases, with 1,303 active infections. Notably, 522 of these are in the under-20 age group, and the Delta variant has been detected in 290 cases. District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke has been urging unvaccinated individuals to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Since the pandemic's start, 21,438 infections have been confirmed in the district. Currently, 851 people are in quarantine as suspected cases. The 7-day incidence rate stands at 63.5 according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Breaking down the active cases by city, Neuss has the highest number with 629, followed by Grevenbroich with 189, Dormagen with 170, and Kaarst with 112. Meerbusch has 111 active cases, Korschenbroich has 37, Jüchen has 44, and Rommerskirchen has 11.

The district health department encourages vaccinations as the key to overcoming the pandemic. They have set up a hotline (02181/6 01 77 77) for queries, operating from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, and weekends, 10 am to 2 pm.
