Scientific extravaganza titled "Smart Space"
The city of Münster, Germany, is set to host the **SchlauRaum** science festival from **July 5 to July 11, 2025**. This exciting event, themed around health under the motto **"Wieso? Weshalb? Gesund?"** ("Why? How? Healthy?"), promises over 150 engaging events, exhibitions, and interactive activities at more than 15 locations across the city centre.
The festival is a collaborative effort by the University Hospital Münster (UKM), University of Münster, FH Münster (University of Applied Sciences), and the City of Münster, with support from the Stiftung der Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and the Allianz für Wissenschaft.
Throughout the week, visitors can expect a diverse programme that includes lectures, films, readings (including boat-based readings on the Aasee), concerts, exhibitions, quizzes, sport events, theatre performances (including Theater Titanick), and open-air cinemas.
The festival kicks off on **July 5** with the Opening Day, focusing on the theme of "One Health," featuring talks on health interplay among humans, animals, and the environment, as well as a discussion on stress management.
Subsequent thematic days include **Movement and Prevention** (July 7), **Nutrition** (July 8), **Future of Health and Digital Health** (July 9), **Body, Mind, and Soul** (July 10), and **Climate, Environment, and Prevention** (July 11).
Highlights include the free performance of "Tipping Point" by Theater Titanick at the harbour square on Sunday and Monday evenings, exploring the theme of climate change, and the transformation of Stubengasse into an open-air cinema in collaboration with Münster Castle Theatre in the evenings.
All events are free of charge and designed to engage visitors of all ages. A pocket-format "Stundenplan" (schedule) is available at Münster Information offices to help visitors navigate the extensive program.
Some events may require registration, such as the discussion about the future of health, technology, digitalization, and artificial intelligence in healthcare on Wednesday (09.07.) at the UKM East Tower.
Europe's largest walk-through digestive tract model, promoting colon cancer screening, can be found in the town hall inner courtyard. For more information about "SchlauRaum," visit schlauraum-ms.de.
