Medical Students Triumph in Ural Orthopedic Stomatology Olympiad
Students from the Ural State Medical University (UGMU) clinched the top spot in the Ural Orthopedic Stomatology Olympiad. Contenders from Ekaterinburg, Tyumen, and Chelyabinsk, all in their fourth and fifth academic years, participated in the competition. The university press service announced six finalists, who had excelled in the online stage and the "Best Clinical Case" competition.
The two-part final round placed significant demands on the students. The first challenge entailed the creation of a full ceramic crown and veneer, tooth preparation, 3D scanning, impression taking, and construction fixation, followed by a detailed explanation for each step. The second task revolved around developing clinical reasoning skills, as participants were required to analyze a digital patient model using specialized software, arrive at a diagnosis, and devise a treatment plan.
UGMU's team emerged as overall winners. In the 'Crown Creation' category, Nikita Ivanova took the lead. Meanwhile, Anna Zatueva secured the runner-up position in the 'Veneer Creation' category. Earlier this year, UGMU students had already garnered victories in the II International Ophthalmology Olympiad, as previously reported by a regional newspaper.
The Ural State Medical University (UGMU) students, who excel in various health-and-wellness fields such as science and medical-conditions, showcased their skills in the Ural Orthopedic Stomatology Olympiad. Their triumph in the competition underscores their commitment to education and self-development, particularly in areas like dental crowns creation and clinical case analysis.
