UCMed Treats 27 After Earthquake, 3 Critical
The University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) has received 27 patients following the recent earthquake. Three are in critical condition, 22 are serious but stable, and two are urgent. Two patients remain intubated, while seven have been discharged.
Among the admitted patients, one underwent a craniectomy, and two underwent open reduction internal fixation procedures for bone fracture repairs. They are being treated for a range of injuries including multiple physical injuries, fractures, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, stroke, and acute coronary syndrome. The majority of patients came from Bogo, San Remigio, and Medellin. Currently, 20 patients remain admitted for further treatment at UCMed.
UCMed continues to provide care for 20 patients injured in the earthquake. Three patients are in critical condition, and two remain intubated. The medical center has discharged seven patients so far, with more expected to be released as their conditions improve.
