Uncovered reason behind the demise of Kelly Clarkson's former spouse
In a tragic turn of events, Brandon Blackstock, a well-known music businessman, passed away on August 7 at the age of 48. The medical examiner deemed his death as "natural," as he was receiving palliative care for a malignant skin tumor, specifically melanoma.
Brandon and Kelly Clarkson, the Grammy-winning singer, were married from 2013 until their divorce in 2020. Their divorce was a highly contentious period marked by legal battles over finances, custody, and allegations. Despite the acrimonious split and personal conflicts, Kelly showed grace by continuing to support Blackstock during his final years, demonstrating care despite their past.
The divorce included a difficult custody battle over their two children, River, 11, and Remington, 9. It was reported that when Kelly found out about Brandon's illness, she protected him for the sake of their children. Following Brandon's death, Kelly postponed her Las Vegas residency to be closer to her children.
Brandon and Kelly met in May 2006 at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards. They reconnected at the Super Bowl and married in 2013. Kelly has always wanted her children to have the best relationship possible with their father. Despite the controversies that arose during the divorce period, Kelly never spoke badly about Brandon to their children.
The divorce was incredibly difficult, confusing, and painful for Kelly, leaving her very shaken. During this time, she also suffered from depression and took medication. However, she continued to balance her professional obligations with parenting and legal challenges amid public scrutiny and emotional pain from personal betrayals.
One such controversy involved a dispute with a management company connected to Blackstock, where Kelly counter-sued alleging unauthorized talent agent activity that violated California labor code, which could nullify part of her verbal agreements.
Kelly is "devastated" following the death of her ex-husband. She and Brandon had a complex relationship, but she has always wished for the best for him. Brandon passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, surrounded by his family.
